Land Aknowledgement

Village Theatre Waterdown acknowledges our creative home on the sacred and traditional territories of the Chonnonton, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. This land is subject to many treaties including the Dish With One Spoon Wampum, Treaty of Niagara (1764), Silver Convenant Chain of Friendship, and Between the Lakes Treaty No. 3 (1792).

We recognize the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples, and that this land continues to be home to many Indigenous nations. The Dish With One Spoon means we share the responsibility of ensuring the dish is never empty - we must care for the land and all the living beings on it.

The land upon which we perform has been home to the storytelling traditions of Indigenous people since time immemorial. We honour their stewardship, past, present, and future, and are blessed to continue a sacred tradition of this land - to gather together as one and tell stories.
